Terék Anna was born in Bačka Topola, Vojvodina, (former) Yugoslavia in 1984. She works as a school psychologist in Budapest. Her first book of poems, Mosolyszakadás (Tear of a Smile) was published in 2007; the second, Duna utca (Danube Street) (2011), won the Ervin Sinkó Prize. Her first play, Neka se jave najbolji! (The Best Ones Should Apply!) premiered in the Serbian National Theatre. Her third collection Halott nők (Dead Women) received the Géza Csáth Prize and the János Sziveri Prize in 2017. It has been translated into Croatian, German and Polish. Her latest book was published in 2020 with the title Háttal a napnak (Back on the Sun) and was awarded the Milán Füst Prize the same year as well as the Merites Prize in 2021.
